About Us

Native fish Australia east Gippsland is a branch of Native fish Australia (see NFA national on home page link) we are an organisation dedicated to the preservation of our unique native fish species and the rivers that they inhabit
Our members are mostly conservation orientated anglers and release almost all native fish caught

Our members mostly reside in Gippsland and southern NSW and our activities mostly cover this region

NFA east Gippsland is involved in a range of activities from hands on conservation activities to angler catch data collection for fisheries research public education and lobbing governments on issues that impact on native fish

Many of NFA activities include social activities for example we run an evening barbeque at events like the Border bass challenge, the Border bass challenge is an event where NFA members both East Gippsland and members from other branches catch and release Australian Bass measuring and recording catch details from the rivers on either side of the Vic NSW border region we collect data on population and size and have done so for the past seven years this assists in providing valuable information to fisheries on populations and recruitment of bass into these rivers
